GPS Map of Haiti
For people with a Garmin GPS unit such as the 60CSX there is a file you can place on your unit with up-to-date road data from OpenStreetMap.
To put this map onto your GPS follow these instructions:
- Download the map at latest.garmin-gmapsupp.zip
- updated link: http://labs.geofabrik.de/haiti/latest.garmin-gmapsupp.zip
- Unzip and rename the file to gmapsupp.img
- Plug the GPS unit in “mass storage mode” (Setup->Interface->USB Mass Storage)
- Put the file gmapsupp.img in the Garmin directory (create the directory if it does not exist)
- Unplug the GPS unit
There will be continual updates made as new data becomes available in OpenStreetMap.
- Télécharger la carte: http://haiti.crisiscommons.com/haiti.img
- updated link: http://labs.geofabrik.de/haiti/latest.garmin-gmapsupp.zip

doesn’t work. I find the map itself at OpenStreetMap, but no way to download from there.

This and other resources from the OpenStreetMap listed on the OSM project wiki (Raw data downloads, Shapefiles, J2ME apps, and other formats).
You can get in touch with the active OpenStreetMap community if you need help with using the data for any purpose.
Would it be possible to indicate some type of versioning in the name of the Garmin GPS map of Haiti?
Thanks
Courtesy of Graeme Williams of the NZ Open GPS project, instructions on how to install the maps on older Garmin mapping GPS units that don’t support mass storage mode.
The team now have done an alternate map for the older GPS units:
Older Garmin GPS Map60, 60C, 60CS, 76C, 76CS, Greyscale Legend &
Vista, Quest etc (pretty much all non ‘x’ models)
latest.garmin-img.zip at http://labs.geofabrik.de/haiti/latest.garmin-img.zip
To put this map onto your GPS follow these instructions:
* Download the map from http://labs.geofabrik.de/haiti/latest.garmin-img.zip
* Unzip onto a local drive
* Download SendMap from http://www.cgpsmapper.com/download/sendmap20.zip
* Unzip SendMap.exe into the same directory as the 80000111.img you
unzipped earlier
* Plug the GPS unit into the computer, GPS turned on
* Drag and drop the 80000111.img file onto SendMap.exe
* Map will be uploaded, wait for the process to finish, GPS will
‘reboot’ once loading has finished
* Unplug the GPS unit

There now is the Garmin All in One Map for Haiti which has overlays for showing damage. A MapSource installer is available this. Files update every 30 minutes.

New Video: How to Load a Haiti Basemap onto a Garmin GPS Receiver
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFxbfemJfBM
I created this video over the past few days, in the hopes that people
traveling to Haiti will find it helpful.
(Apologies for a little video glitch at 00:44. Other images
rotated successfully, but not that one.)
The video integrates direct screenshots from an Oregon Garmin, bits of
live video from an Oregon and an eTrex Legend, still photos, and
screen-captures of web sessions:
It’s 2-minutes, 16-seconds (02:16).
