Feedback loop problem: lacking an org list
The biggest gap in this whole digital ecosystem of response is the lack of a database of organizations on the ground. We NEED this:
* Organization Name
* Location
* Contact information
* What they’re doing to help
Why? Because we need to finish the feedback loop on people with needs on the ground asking for assistance. The only loop closeable right now is the Missing Persons one, as that can be done remotely. When boots are required on the ground, then orgs and the ability to interface with them are required as well.
Supposedly MINUSTAH and a couple other UN organizations have this information. The greater community needs it opened up too. Sahana is willing to help with this with their Relief Organization Registry, to be the intermediary with a platform built specifically for this purpose.
Anyone who can help open this data up would be greatly appreciated as we all need it.

I have some very resourceful friends willing to help pull in the global community to coordinate efforts... great people in the Pacific Northwest, Brazil, Iran, Canada, Australia, Africa, etc. that are on board and willing to help. Unfortunately, my tech skills leave much to be desired... I am trained in trauma and crisis response for children/adolescents... so my part comes in later.
CURRENT ISSUE: I am getting error messages that Twitter is over capacity.
Does this group have a designated hashtag other than #ccHaiti?
As I said, I'm not a tech expert by any means... but if you shoot it back to me or send a link to a list of recognized hashtags @ElyssaD I will make sure it is registered and it retweet to the global community.
Hopefully that will help slow down traffic, weed out scammers and misinformation.
This is a great project and I appreciate the contribution for everyone involved! No doubt we can apply this experience to other situations!
